Restylane

A natural beauty lift

The resilience and youthful contours of your skin, and its ability to counter the effects of time, wind and weather, owes much to hyaluronic acid.

Smoothing wrinkles and folds; or giving your mouth a fuller, more sensuous form, requires only natural substances. Restylane gives shape with the body’s own natural material, hyaluronic acid. In the skin it creates volume, resulting in a healthy and vital appearance. It is an effective and long-lasting choice. Gaining the look you desire is easy and quick and the results are instantaneous.

There are several choices in the Restylane product which are specially designed for different purposes and effects:

Restylane for wrinkle correction and lip enhancements
Perlane for shaping facial contours, such as cheeks and chin and correcting deep folds.
Restylane Touch for correcting thin, superficial lines, for example around the eyes and mouth, forehead lines and smile lines.
Restylane Lip for redefining and enhancing the shape of the lips.
Restylane Vital for healthier, firmer and more supple skin. It can be used for skin of face, neck, décolletage and back of the hands.

Frequently asked questions about Restylane

How does it work?

After injection, the gel particles in Restylane binds water, as the gel breaks down, water takes its place. The less concentrated the gel becomes, the more water it is able to bind. These facts are the main reasons that treatments with Restylane products last so long. When totally absorbed; the gel disappears unnoticed from the body.

Is Restylane safe?

Restylane is a safe product, made of hyaluronic acid, which is naturally present in the body. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is biodegradable; which means that when the injected gel breaks down, it turns into water and carbon dioxide, and disappears unnoticed from your body.

Restylane is a totally non-animal product; therefore there is no risk of an allergic reaction if you are sensitive to common foods, such as beef, chicken and eggs.

Where may Restylane be used?

It may be used for correcting deep facial folds; thin and superficial wrinkles, for example around the eyes and mouth, forehead lines and smile lines. It can also be used for enhancement and volume augmentation of the lips.

How long does Restylane last?

A Restylane treatment is long lasting but not permanent. The effect is very individual; and depends on many factors, such as your age, skin type, life style and muscle activity. The procedure can be effective for six to eight months for lip enhancements and wrinkles on the face. It is recommended that you plan for regular future visits to maintain the result. This has been shown to increase the duration of the result.

What about the Restylane injection process?

No previous skin test is needed. The session often takes less than 30 minutes. The result is instantaneous. A touch up treatment within one to three weeks may be necessary to achieve an optimal correction.

Prior to your procedure, a topical anesthetic cream can be applied to the area to be treated. You can also choose to have a local anesthetic injection. For wrinkle treatments, pain relief is not usually required.

Are there any side effects?

Immediately after the procedure, some common injection-related reactions may occur, such as slight redness, swelling, tenderness and an itching sensation in the treated area. These typically resolve spontaneously within one to two days after wrinkle reduction, and within a week after lip augmentation.

What care do I need to take after my treatment?

Avoid touching the treated area if possible within the first six hours. After that the area can be gently washed with soap and water, and light make up can be applied. If you previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the procedure could contribute to another eruption. If you are taking aspirin or any similar medication, please note that the treatment may increase the bruising at the injection site.
